Through this website, we try to bring to you a glimpse of India in 21st Century. India has a trillion dollar economy, which has maintained more than 9% rate of growth for 3 years. Despite economic slowdown, we hope to achieve 7.5% rate of growth this year. The country sent a lunar probe Chandrayaan I last year. This carried number of European scientific payloads. Two way trade between India and Czech Republic has crossed US$ 1 billion. There is growing Indian investment in Czech Republic in sectors as diverse as steel, IT, textiles, tea and automobile spare parts. India remains an attractive destination for investment. Skoda Auto’s investment in India is a success story.

India is an ancient land with diverse cultures, language and religions. India has a vibrant plural civil society and democratic framework, which has shown its resilience in face of challenges.

Relations between India and Czech Republic go back to period before our Independence. This included visits of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, Bose, Nehru and Mrs. Indira Gandhi. We have the honour of receiving distinguished Czech visitors, including. President Havel, President Klaus, Prime Ministers Zeman and Paroubek. Foreign Minister Karl Schwarzenberg visited India in 2007. India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Kamal Nath and Minister of State for External Affairs Mr. Anand Sharma visited Czech Republic in 2008. From Czech side, Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Martin Riman visited India last year.
